Montessori Community Service

As part of their education, we wish to instill into our students the importance of being part a part of a community and giving to others.  This year at MSF we have chosen to make our giving partners The Manna House and the Harvest Hope Food Bank. The Manna House is a soup kitchen that serves approximately 500 people each day.  These are people who may not receive another meal, if not for the Manna House.  The Harvest Hope Food Bank provides food to local food pantries and families who do not have enough to feed their families.

We hope all of our students will be active partners in the giving process. Each time a student provides a donation, a paper chain link will be added to their class chain.  At the end of the year, the chains will be connected and displayed to show how well we “Link” to the community.

Thanks to your generosity in just one day, we were able to donate 167 canned food items to Harvest Hope Food Bank for Thanksgiving.  Our chain now stretches from the door to Miss Traci's classroom!

Florence Montessori and Manna House:  Sharing our Bounty & Giving Thanks

Manna House recently lost a major donor when Dixie Corporation announced that it had to scale back on its charitable donations.  Manna House is in need of paper products and utensils.  With the Thanksgiving holidays fast approaching, we will continue to collect the following products for the Manna House throughout the month of November:

  • 8 oz. or 12 oz Styrofoam cups                     alt
  • 3-section Styrofoam plates
  • Styrofoam bowls
  • plastic spoons and forks
  • napkins.
